Co.DESIGN – “Making of the Eames Chair” | Video

"The great thing about quality is that it can be timeless. But actually producing something with the level of style, durability, and functionality needed to earn that title is very hard to do. One of those products that has reached that pinnacle was actually first introduced 50 years ago, and it is probably still among the best-selling pieces of Eames furniture, the Eames Lounge Chair. This chair first made its debut in 1956 on an NBC sitcom, with the same welcoming leather cushion and wood veneer shell that it has today. And that’s exactly how its designer, Charles Eames, said he always wanted the chair to be: “to have the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt.” In their video, Co.DESIGN of FAST COMPANY, takes us behind the scenes in Grand Rapids, MI to see how the chairs are made, which is actually not that much different than back in the day. Check out the video and stills from their visit after the jump."  - Freshness
