Austin Yang – iTypewriter

An interesting concept and design. Curious how well this works and how the pressure of each pad it against the iPad screen...

"Sometimes you just need to feel the weight of the keys and the snap of a typewriter in order to really channel your inner Hemingway or Murrow, but with all of the touch keys and styluses of today it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to do so. Enter Austin Yang‘s iTyperwriter, which joins together the technology of today with the aesthetic of yesteryear, creating a sleek, yet retro hybrid gadget. While some may find the sound (and even the idea) of a keypad hitting your prized iPad screen, the experience is one that could bring more old-school writers into Apple‘s world or give today’s writers an idea of what its like to hear the clickiddy-clack of a typewriter. As of now, you can’t buy the iTypewriter, but you can see it in action (albeit slow) in the video after the jump." - Freshness

New Facebook Headquarters by Architect Frank Gehry

Impressed that Facebook has the budget to bring on famed Frank Gehry to plan and design the expansion of Facebook HQ. Considering their shares current worth are significantly less than their initial offering...

"Architect Frank Gehry is planning the expansion of the new headquarter offices of Facebook. The company won’t tell how much the project will cost but says it’s consistent with the local office-park norm. 83-year-old Gehry confessed that he is not a Facebook user but enjoys working with his 28 year old client and co-founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg. The buildings design is organised into work-group ‘neighborhoods’ with meeting rooms that could be painted with graffiti and lounges furnished with arcade-game consoles. These are only some of the possibilities Gehry and his team are working on with Zuckerberg and his collaborators. Sounds fun.
Take a look at the pictures in the above gallery." - High Snobiety

Custom Handmade Growlers

The "Bullet Bill" custom growler is awesome (I'm assuming is a Super Mario reference. However, it could very well be a reference to the U.S. Air Force's use of the Shark paint scheme on the older fighter jets...).

"Carry your favorite local brew home in a vessel as individual as you with one of these Custom Handmade Growlers ($65 and up). Made entirely by hand in Montana from American sourced materials, these ceramic growlers are totally and completely customizable, letting you dream up pretty much anything you want and see it turned into a reality. Just go easy on the gore, lest you find yourself less than enticed the next time you want a pint." - Uncrate

Horween Leather x VANS Vault Mt. Edition Decon LX + Era HW LX | Available Now

Another close look into one of the Vans Vault x Horween models. This time, the Mt. Edition Decon LX...

"VANS has given us an insight into the workings of one of the more successful tanneries in the USA, Horween Leather. Their reputation is based on an unparalleled dedication to their craft, and has remained unchanged for over 90 years. A glimpse of the upcoming collaboration sneakers was seen in the video interview with Skip Horween that premiered in July. A couple of items from the capsule collection have made their way into retailers already, namely the Mt. Edition Decon LX and Era HW LX. Utilizing high-quality leathers on the upper, these sneakers are constructed much like leather shoes and boots. Both models are currently in stock at NORSE STORE in Copenhagen.

Vans Vault 2012 Fall Era Horween LX

Yet another closer look into the Vans Vault Horween collection. This time, the Era. It looks amazing...

"From a forthcoming range that will see premium iterations to classic silhouettes like the Mountain Mid, Zapato Del Barco, Trek Lo and more, Vans aligned with Chicago tannery Horween Leather to construct an encompassing collection that will include this Era Horween LX. Working closely with the nearly century-old leather maker, Vans enlisted the help of famed designer Taka Hayashi to rework a few of the skate brand’s mainstays with a luxury outdoorsman aesthetic. Buttery soft leather lines the toe and heel tab, which is then complimented by a pebble leather upper, contrasting vulcanized sole, metal eyelets and leather laces. Although little is known regarding this collection’s release, it will surely be available at select vault dealers this fall.

Nike Air Max 90 PRM Vintage Infrared Spring 2013

The Infrared 90s will also be receiving the same vintage treatment that the 1s did in the previous post. Personally, this doesn't make much sense at all. Considering the yellowing of the midsole has always been something that isn't exactly desired by collectors. Sure, it will provide that true vintage appeal, but it would be better if that wasn't artificially manufactured...

"Yesterday we showed you the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 OG for Spring 2013. Here is now the next highlight for sneaker aficionados from the upcoming Nike collection – the Nike Air Max 90 Vintage ‘Infrared’.

Without a doubt the most sought after colorway of the running shoe, it returns for Spring 2013 in its original outfit with slight vintage effects through out the upper. You can expect the line-ups for this one to be long.

Flip through our detailed image gallery above to get a good look at the sneaker.

Nike Air Max 1 OG Spring 2013

It appears Nike is taking their retro releases to a whole new level, by giving them a vintage treatment/aesthetic right out of the box...

"Today we can offer up a first exclusive and detailed look at one of the more anticipated releases of next season. For Spring 2013 the Nike Air Max 1 returns in one of its OG colors. First released in 1987, the 2013 version got a slight vintage treatment across the upper, yet otherwise remains true to the original in its white/grey/red colorway.

The Nike Air Max 1 OG will be released January 2013 and you can be sure that it will sell out in no time.

Air Jordan 11 Retro Playoff Releases December 2012

Nike and Jordan Brand are at it again, with yet another Air Jordan 11 Retro during the holiday season. Let's see how insane it gets this time around and hope that they improve the quality so that they're more similar to the originals or first retros...

"Last December we witnessed the release of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Concord. Many of you have heard how that turned out. The release even got attention from mainstream media, because of the violence and chaos that the sneaker drop brought with itself. Malls were shut down, people got hurt, it was pretty crazy.

It looks like Jordan Brand is getting ready for the next riot. This upcoming December, they will be releasing the Air Jordan 11 Retro Playoff. Today we came for the first time across nice and clean images of the sneaker, so here they are and let’s just hope that the sneaker release will work out more smoothly this time."- High Snobiety

Original Fake KAWS Companion Resting Place Figure

It's been quite sometime, since KAWS has released a new companion figure. This one is a slight revision on his already released dissected companion figure, with a new position...

"It has been a while since New York artist KAWS and his brand Original Fake have released a toy and more importantly, it has been a while since a strong one has released. Both the recent Snoopy Toy and KAWS Partners Toy were among the less popular releases. That is definitely a out to change.
Today we can give you a first preview of the upcoming KAWS Companion Resting Place Figure. The Companion remains to be one of the most iconic characters to ever be created by the artist and the Companion toys have also always been a big success.
The figure should be releasing very soon on Kawsone.com, we will of course keep you posted." - High Snobiety

Aston Martin DBR1 1:1 Scale Model | By EVANTA MOTOR

This is unbelievable and so awesome, considering the scale and detail...

"Similar to the Evanta Motor Company‘s previous project with Aston Martin, this DBR1 model is special on multiple levels. One, it’s a 1:1 scale reproduction of the vehicle that Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori drove to win the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. Two, the model is handmade and features an impressive level of detail: the DBR1 body shell comes with accurately upholstered seats, four 16-inch Aston Martin wire wheels wrapped in Dunlop race tires, a machined aluminum gear knob and gear lever, and full dashboard finished in textured satin and equipped with Smiths gauges and period switches. (It even comes with a replica of the Le Mans trophy.) And finally, the entire model is presented in the style of an AirFix Kit, with the full-on parts tree packaging. There’s only one in existence, and it’s scheduled to be auctioned during Goodwood Revival weekend at the Goodwood circuit in the U.K. via: Autoblog" - Freshness

The Nude Body as a Landscape for Miniature Scenes by Allan Teger

While NSFW, this is genius. An incredibly clever use of the female body...

"Artist Allan Teger presents the Bodyscapes Photographic Series. In the series the artist uses the nude body as the landscape backdrop for his miniature scenes. The tasteful black and white images make interesting and fun use of the nude body, sometimes in a very obvious way and other times in a more subtle way.

Click through the entire series in the gallery above." - High Snobiety

How to Wrap a Nike Zoom Force 1 in Gold by Complete Technique

While I gave up snowboarding years ago, this is an amazing video. The attention to detail and obsessive desire for perfection is yet another reason why I love the Japanese culture and craftsmanship...

"An epic video shot over nine days, filmmaker Ronin follows the precise steps involved in creating a gold-plated Nike Zoom Force 1 snowboard boot. Under the watchful hands of Complete Technique (aka Osamu Koyama), the artist painstakingly sketches, molds and creates a final product beyond its original functional intentions but rather a true piece of art. The “American Eagle” as it was dubbed was created as part of the Shoeshine Project 2012." - Hypebeast

"Honored for its streamlined design, recycling efforts and of course, vast collection of quality goods, lifestyle brand MUJI has built an international following of loyal patrons — all without a traditional in-your-face marketing strategy. With four stores already in the United States, this shop will be its largest at 7,250 square feet offering more than 2,000 items, including 1,700 household and 300 apparel pieces. A Glow-in-the-Dark Skatepark in Brussels, Belgium

This is so bad ass. Wonder how bright the glow is and if you can actually skate it without any other light source at night...

"In an attempt to turn night skating into a cinematic and athletic display, Korean artist Koo Jeong-A has created OTRO – the world’s first glow-in-the-dark skatepark. Built in Brussels, Belgium, the various obstacles which include bowls, cradles and tunnel entrances have been crafted from green, phosphorescent concrete which glows like a polished emerald at night. One part skate park and equal parts art project, ORTO is truly a sight to behold.

Junya Watanabe COMME des GARCONS MAN Fall/Winter 2012 Outerwear with Levi’s and Hervier

Some amazing jackets and outerwear from Junya Watanabe and the CdG Man line for F/W '12...

"A first part of the much anticipated Junya Watanabe COMME des GARCONS MAN Fall/Winter 2012 Collection has been released this week. Fans will love the new offering, which perfectly connects to the previous seasons of workwear inspired goods.

The first delivery of the new collection already includes two exciting collaborations of the Japanese brand – they worked with French workwear studio Hervier, recreating a number of classic silhouettes in a series of colors. Also Junya continues to work with Levi’s and presents a new take on the classic denim jacket. Of course all pieces feature the usual attention to detail, including leather and contrasting fabric pockets and just an overall good understanding of detail and contrasts.

All new jackets from the collection are now in stock at END. - High Snobiety
