Nike Zoom Kaiju Snowboarding Boots – Inspired by Air Jordan III Retro Black Cement

Boarding with Nike and Jordan aesthethics...

"The appearance of snowboarding boots at the start of summer might be odd at first, though this particular pair is quite warranted for the occasion. Now in full Swoosh sponsored outfit from top to bottom, Austrian professional rider Gigi Rüf recently appeared with some of the upcoming offerings from Nike Snowboarding, including a pair of Nike Zoom Kaiju Snowboarding Boots in new colorway. While Rüf been a wearer of Nike Zoom Kaiju since four years ago, these new design are quite distinctive – their close resemblances to the Air Jordan III Retro Black Cement, down to the elephant skin/cement pattern. No technical details are available at this time except for original features that include Flywire Cuff, Free Technology, No-Sew Asymmetric Weld, Zoom Air cushioning, and of course, the unique design." - Freshness

Nike Air Safari LE – Mesh Pack

This is the season of the Safari for Nike. There's the "Safari" retro pack that's already released in Europe, partially early on Nike.com (unannounced release), the scheduled US release on 6/30/12, the Safari Lunarlon hybrid, as well as the addition to the Nike ID offerings. Here's another release from Nike for their Safari design...

"Matching the summer heat, the Nike Air Safari is back for Summer 2012, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the classic, Tinker Harfield-designed runner with this latest Mesh Pack. Coming to select Nike accounts in limited numbers, the heavy mesh on the toe box, tongue, and ankle lining arrives in two different vibrant colorways, a blue and a yellow, both with the same hot print recently added as an Air Force 1 Nike iD option. The rest of the sneaker is the classic Air Safari silhouette, including black shading on the side panels and above the white midsole. Expect these to hit Nike Sportswear dealers in the coming weeks. via: Sole Movement" - Freshness

COMME des GARCONS JUNYA WATANABE MAN x Tricker’s 2012 Fall/Winter Wingtip Sneaker

Great to see that Tricker's is continuing their collaborations with CDG/Junya Watanabe with this latest release. Curious about the comfort levels of these as sneakers though...

"Out of the many collaborative projects that COMME des GARCONS‘ lead designer Junya Watanabe takes on, his ongoing work with respected British footwear manufacturer Tricker’s is arguably one of the most anticipated. For the 2012 fall/winter collection, several new creations are slated for release, including this take on the popular wingtip model. Taking a Tricker’s 4-hole wingtip suede upper, Watanabe has chosen to replace the more traditional welted sole with a white rubber sneaker-styled version, and in doing so brings a modern feel to a classic design. Set to be available in the upcoming months, the COMME des GARCONS JUNYA WATANABE MAN x Tricker’s wingtip sneaker will retail in Japan for ¥53,550 JPY (approximately $670 USD).

Fiat 550 Italia – Ferrari 458 Powered Concept | By LAZZARINI DESIGN

This reminds me of when they gutted a Smartcar and put a Hayabusa engine in there. I can only imagine how insane this Fiat 500 will be with a 4.5L V8 from a Ferrari 458...

"Lazzarini Design introduces a concept that installs supercar power in a tidy Fiat 500 package. Dubbed the 550 Italia, the vehicle has a rear-mounted 4.5-liter V8 taken from a Ferrari 458 Italia. The engine is detuned from 570 horsepower to a relatively more manageable 550 horses, and the wheelbase is extended by about a foot to accommodate the engine and transmission. Additional modifications include a widebody kit, new bumpers, roof-mounted functional air intake and a large rear wing. Lazzarini Design is currently asking for $550,000 from investors to bring the Fiat 550 Italia to market." - Freshness

Kiteboarder Hannah Whiteley Gets “Lost On An Island” in Venezuela

First time really getting a look into kiteboarding, looks pretty bad ass...

"Professional kiteboarder Hannah Whiteley left the cold British winter back in March and April for a ride around warmer South American waters. Coche Venezuela sets the idyllic scene for this Lana del Ray soundtrack-supplied short capturing her training trip. Shot and cut by Andre Magarao from Brazil it offers beautiful landscape scenes as well as of course the talents of Whiteley herself.

MEDICOM TOY – BE@RBRICK Aroma Diffuser 400%

It's great to see Medicom diversifying their be@rbrick designs. I really like the iconic design, just curious how well the diffuser works...

"Leading up to the MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION 2012, another interesting product is ready to launch at the event. We recently previewed the MEDICOM TOY BE@RBRICK Speaker System, and it looks like they have dabbled in interior accessories once again by producing this BE@RBRICK Aroma Diffuser. The figure measures at 280mm or 400%, and there is a mechanical fan inside its head, which blows the nice aroma of essential oils. This diffuser works on two AA batteries, and after 30 minutes of continuous use, this device is programmed to turn itself off automatically. Kate Upton By Terry Richardson | For GQ July 2012

Miss Upton at it again, with Terry Richardson for GQ...

"The bodacious blonde is back! Super model Kate Upton will be your next GQ cover girl for July 2012. Compiled by the one and only Terry Richardson, who’s risqué out take of Upton doing the “Cat Daddy” had YouTube censored the video (which returned with a parental warning). In her most comfortable setting, among back yard pool and bikinis, the GQ spread doubles as a timeline of Upton’s raise to stardom from her doing “The Dougie” video last April to the most recent dating rumors with dueling quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. Nike Air Safari Deconstruct Pack

As much as I love the Nike Air Safari, these may require an in person inspection before further consideration. While I understand the concept behind the design, the safari print still feels necessary...

"As you might have noticed by now, the Nike Air Safari is making a strong comeback Fall 2012. Not only does it return in the form of the Nike Air Safari Vintage, but also in a modern new Lunar Safari version, and of course the OG version also comes back.

Here is another one now – the Nike Air Safari Deconstruct. Deconstruct is usually a cleaner, more contemporary premium version of a sneaker in the case of Nike and that is also true for the Safari. It comes in two very clean premium versions, that do not want to attract much attention.

Look out for these to release soon. Take a look in detail inside the gallery." - High Snobiety

Nissan Juke Nismo

So happy to see this. Considering the Juke-R is so out of reach, this might be another option for those who are a fan of the Juke design. While it's not even close to being a happy medium between a standard and the "R," it's a start...

"Rolling up in Nissan’s Juke range is the Nismo model. It includes a more aggressive aero package than before, complete with new front and rear bumpers, wider wheel arches, side skirts, a tailgate spoiler and a new grille, sitting on wider 18-inch alloys. The interior’s kitted out with a sporty control surfaces and red-stitched, suede-covered sport buckets with greater lateral support. The Nismo does hold a standard Juke spec of a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. However, it’s enhanced upon the 188 horsepower of the basic model through stiffer suspension, revised steering geometry and performance-tuned traction control with torque vectoring. It’s a beast.

The car’s to be unveiled at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans with a number of Nissan-powered vehicles on the grid. Expect the car to be available on the market from the start of the new year, starting from Europe and Japan, with America following suit.

Nike Air Current – Summer 2012 Pack

Interesting vintage design, will need to see these when they drop...

"Fans of Nike‘s classic runners will have something to look forward to this summer as the brand is set to release the Air Current in a trio of colorways. Originally introduced in 1989, the uniquely designed shoe sports the same neoprene/nubuck construction across all three styles, along with a sole unit identical to its Air Flow counterpart. Differences are found at the upper, where the shoe loses the Swoosh, as well as two rows of eyelets to make room for the jumbo forefoot strap. The Nike Air Current — in three neon colorways perfect for summer — is set to drop next month at select retailers, including online retailer Crooked Tongues." - Freshness

Rumor: American Apparel to Begin Outsourcing Manufacturing?

Hmm, I've been a fan of the quality of the garments from when I first heard about them. However, the fact that it was made in the US was never the initial reason for purchase. It was the appeal of their layering ability as basics. Through further research and comparison though, there are other labels that can provide quality basics for a fraction of the cost of American Apparel (which isn't surprising, given most of them are not manufactured in the US.). There really isn't anything inherently "American" about the actual style of the products, it's more the fact that they're American made. What happens to the brand, if manufacturing moves overseas?

"Since being founded in 1989, by Canadian Dov Charney, American Apparel has thrived as a manufacturer that prides itself on producing garments, and jobs, in the United States, more specifically Los Angeles. With an ever increasing pressure to produce apparel that is a bit easier on the wallet, the brand’s founder was recently quoted that he may look into outsourcing some of the manufacturing work to overseas factories, hence flipping the company’s long-established business model on its head. An excerpt from the article can be read below:
At the helm is Charney, 43, an outspoken advocate for local manufacturing who founded the company 14 years ago. In a recent interview he acknowledged pressure from other company executives, board members and consultants to move manufacturing abroad.
“I want to prove myself,” he said, “and I want to prove ‘made in America’ is a smart business.”
Charney conceded that the company’s finances could eventually push it to start making some products overseas.
“To say that I’m never going to import from overseas would be unreasonable,” he said during an interview at his colorful factory office strewn with new designs being tested for fit. “At this time our business concept is to make everything here. But I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
At the moment, this is all speculation, however, it does make one wonder, would American Apparel lose its appeal if its not entirely made in America? Read the full article here.

Polls: Air Yeezy I vs. Air Yeezy II

I'm much more a fan of the Air Yeezy I...

"Certainly one of the most talked about shoes of the year, the anticipation building up to the second Air Yeezy 2 was arguably only rivaled by the pair’s predecessor — the first Air Yeezy. While both shoes definitely showcase similarities and shared aesthetics, the recent unveiling and release announcement of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 reflects an impressive design that mimics its designer’s stylistic evolution; a progression characterized by heavy scale-laden panels, a glow-in-the-dark outsole and pseudo-posterior fins. To those who were fond of the specifications to the first installment in the Air Yeezy pantheon, the Air Yeezy 2 is either a well-executed second iteration or perhaps a let down. On the other hand, if you did not like the oversized and heightened aesthetic of the first pair, maybe the Air Yeezy 2 is a good change and something that will get you on board with the hype — that is if you can find a way to get your hands on them. Which do you like more, the Air Yeezy I or Air Yeezy II?

Looking back at our last post in which we asked, “Do You Buy Art?” the majority of people responded with “Yes,” which held 63% of the vote, while 37% stated “No.”

Do Ho Suh “Fallen Star” for UCSD’s Stuart Collection

As I'm sure the structure is sound in its foundation, I'm still curious how it's balanced...

"After seven years in the making, Do Ho Suh’s “Fallen Star” sculpture has been unveiled as part of the University of California San Diego’s Stuart Collection. The project cost about $1.3 million dollars all received from private donations, but it looks like it was well worth the time, money and effort. The installation is of a home placed on the seventh floor roof of a building with part of it hanging over its edge, but supported by concrete. This looks pretty awesome!

Nike Free 3.0 Wolf Grey/Volt

Comfort, visibility and safety all rolled into a great design and colorway...

"The Nike Free range is coming out with a slew of great in-line colorways and this 3.0 model gets a great look. It comes in the running shoe color of choice at the moment that’s volt. JAM HOME MADE ‘Jam Diamond’ 12th Anniversary Watch

Jam Home Made's take on the Submariner...

"Even though only re-interpretations of the classic Rolex Submariner watch, we have always been fans of the watches by Japanese brand JAM HOME MADE. Here we present now their newly released 12th anniversary ‘Jam Diamond’ model. It comes in both silver and black and is made of stainless steel. Various elements of the Submariner are featured on the watch. The Rolex logo area is blacked out, which is an interesting idea. Woei x Asics Gel Lyte 3 ‘Cervidae’

One of my favorite Gel Lyte 3s to date. Unfortunately, it's in very limited numbers and a Europe release...

"In honour of the 5th Anniversary of Woei ‘Patta’s et Pret a Porter’, Woei and Asics have come together to take on the Gel Lyte III, the most popular sneaker in the Asics lifestyle range.
To spice things up a little bit, they did some remodelling on the shoe, replacing the standard upper eyelets with metal trail hooks, adding to the feel of the great European outdoors. Finishing touches include zig-zag stitching on the toebox, and a little pop of 3M here and there, to add something special to this all new color palette.

Out of appreciation for their support, especially on purchasing this limited iconic edition, Woei and Asics will give the fans a unique experience by welcoming them on the 23rd of June into a ‘one day only’ outdoor-inspired store takeover. The first 100 customers in-line will also be rewarded with a special pack that includes a tee and a customised Woei shoebox.
