Cool Giant Wooden Clip Promoting Urban Art in Belgium
Keeping the ground together...
"Here is a fun display of contemporary urban art at its best. This giant wooden clip is currently being showcased in Belgium, in the Chaudfontaine park, as part of a contemporary art exhibition. Designed by Mehmet Ali Uysal, the unusual park addition replicates the clip, a common smart tool used to hang clothes for drying. The giant clipper becomes the focal point of this particular area of the park shown below and looks great while adding a bit of originality to its surroundings. We have to say we salute this idea and wouldn’t mind seeing a similar project in some of our own city parks. Moreover, we believe urban art should definitely be encouraged, as it has the ability to transform a simple and unattractive space into an area that feels alive. We are looking forward to your thoughts on this creative idea.- via illusion 360 – Photos © Mmarsupilami" - Freshome

What Kind of Geek Are You?
We're all a little geeky sometimes...
"Let’s face it: If you’re reading Mashable right now, you are likely a geek. Likewise, if you’re writing for Mashable right now, you fall under the same moniker. But what kind of geek are you, and who are your illustrious ancestors?
Flowtown has the answer in the form of the above infographic, “The Evolution of the Geek,” which gives both the history of the term (I greatly enjoy that it springs from the word “gecken,” which connotes an 18th century circus performer who bites the heads off of live chickens) and its various iterations.
Looking at the above, I would say I’m a Music Geek, a Pop Culture Geek and a Film Geek. What are you?" - Mashable

The State of Jay-Z's Empire
An interesting look into Jay-Z's wealth and success. Excited to read his new book...
"Rolling through New York City in the back seat of his black Maybach, Jay-Z touches a button to let more light through the translucent roof, then tugs back a window curtain to peek out at the rainy streets of his hometown. The rapper went from a Brooklyn housing project to a top corner office near Times Square, a path traced in "Empire State of Mind," his anthem to the city that has taken a place next to Sinatra's..." - WSJ - John Jurgensen

Nike Air Foamposite One – Dark Neon Royal
Classics, I remember when these were in the outlets. So many shoes I should've kept from when I was younger...
"The Penny is coming! After plenty of rumors and speculations, its confirmed that Nike will release the Air Foamposite One in its original colorway of Dark Neon Royal. The same ones made famous by Penny Hardaway while on the Orlando Magic. Though its otherworldly appearance caused a stir originally, and to some degree, still does today. The Penny was still a solid basketball shoe, nonetheless. And with already so many Foamposite out this year and set for next year, it would be nice to have the original among the midst. Set to release in early 2011, however, the folks at MarqueeSole got their hands on a few pairs early.

Reebok Pump Fury Superlite
May be time to increase the Pump Fury collection. Sigh, shouldn't have sold the originals from back in high school...
"It looks like the Reebok Pump Fury Superlite is heading the same direction as its predecessor, Insta Pump Fury. With enough interest online, the new and improved sneaker is becoming an instant classic. Here we view the full line up of colorways available in Black/Orange, Blue/White/Red, Silver and the OG colorway, Yellow/Black/Red. The upper features the same Insta Pump system and the light weight realized by numerous ventilation holes on the uppers. All new zig-zag sole design is equipped with stabilizer located in the mid section of the footbed. It is a great cross over between fashion and function as it can be worn at the athletics track or on the dance floor. via: mita sneakers" - Freshness

Pump Fury taking inspiration from the classics. Reminds me of the Blacktop Pumps I had in grade school...
"The Pump is probably one of the most well-known modern sports technology systems created by Reebok, and its air chamber system allows for perfect fitting. Its athletic appeal is obvious, but The Pump also spilled over into lifestyle segments, and the Insta Pump Fury was a key model that popularized The Pump off the athletic arena.
This is the fourth Respect Pack and this particular Insta Pump Fury takes inspiration from Dee Brown’s Pump Omni Lite model at the 1991 NBA All Star Slam Dunk Contest. Fans would be able to spot the similarities as The Pump is brightly colored in orange color with all black uppers made from leather and synthetic materials. Black and white tones reference the Pump Omni Lite and white pull tabs on the tongue and heel accents the monotone uppers. via: mita sneakers" - Freshness

Stussy x Penfield – Outerwear Collection
Great collab between Stussy and Penfield this year...
"Stussy gets a little chummy with heritage outerwear company, Penfield, to turn up the heat this season. The collaborative collection combines team Penfield’s expertise in down insulation and Stussy’s knack for making everything it touches turn into cool. Street cool at that. While Penfield is already an urban staple for those who appreciate quality and timeless style, Stussy updates the timelessness to a speedy timeliness with brightly colored options in bolts of purple and pink, or go a little trendy for hunting in orange and brown. The collaboration comprises of the N3B and the parka-inspired, fur-lined Walkabout. The collection will be hitting stores on October 30. via: Colorfarm" - Freshness

Hella Wheels, Japan...
Oh my...mountains of wheels...
"So we were hit up by our friend Takahiro about a spot he wanted to take us to. A spot he knew I would be into. See this spot is pretty special as there are only a few spots like this in Japan. 99% of the time Family & Friends are not allowed in. Wheel manufacturers always try to come in to see older designs but are rejected at the door.
Lucky for us we were allowed in and I was able to take some photos of this place we called heaven. To some people these are just garbage wheels but if you look closely, you’ll see all types of wheels from the early 80′s to wheels just released last month. Enough with the talking, here’s some photos. Can you name some of the wheels?
Oh and don’t try to go here, you’ll be wasting your time as they don’t let outsiders in. Take a look at the receiving mountain of wheels. This is the sorting area..." - Fatlace - Mark Arcenal

Reebok Insta Pump Fury – Berry/Pewter/Black | Masic Purple/Med Grey/Black
Ah, among all of Reebok's releases, the Pump Fury is my absolute favorite...
"While most brands are toning it down for fall with more neutral and earth tone colorways, Reebok is turning things up with two new bright Insta Pump Fury releases. Each of the shoes feature a glossy patent on the black and silver uppers which are offset with your choice of bright ‘berry’ or ‘purple’ accents. The Reebok Insta Pump Furys will release in limited quantities in November at select retailers. However, atmos-Tokyo has both designs available for pre-order now on its own seller page in Rakuten auction network." - Freshness

The New York Times: “The Simpsons” Explains Its Button-Pushing Banksy Opening
NYT provides some insight into the latest/controversial Banksy opening scene in this weeks Simpsons episode...
"Following-up on yesterday’s extremely viral and controversial Banksy opening sequence for The Simpsons, The New York Times speaks with The Simpsons’ executive producer, Al Jean. Some interesting issues are brought including how The Simpsons tracked down Banksy, the authenticity of the animation and the potential repercussions involving The Simpsons’ network, Fox. A list of questions and answers can be seen below.
How did you find Banksy to do this, and now that it’s done, how much trouble are you in?
Well, I haven’t been fired yet, so that’s a good sign. I saw the film Banksy directed, “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” and I thought, oh, we should see if he would do a main title for the show, a couch gag. So I asked Bonnie Pietila, our casting director, if she could locate him, because she had previously located people like Thomas Pynchon. And she did it through the producers of that film. We didn’t have any agenda. We said, “We’d like to see if you would do a couch gag.” So he sent back boards for pretty much what you saw.
Were you concerned that what he sent you could get the show into hot water?
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about it for a little bit. Certainly, Fox has been very gracious about us biting the hand that feeds us, but I showed it to Matt Groening, and he said, no, we should go for it and try to do it pretty much as close as we can to his original intention. So we did. Like we always do, every show is submitted to broadcast standards, and they had a couple of [changes] which I agreed with, for taste. But 95 percent of it is just the way he wanted.
Can you say what got cut out?
I’ll just say, it was even a little sadder. But I would have to say almost all of it stayed in. We were thrilled. It was funny, I watched “Mad Men” last night and I wondered if this was my Don Draper letter to The New York Times. I knew just how he felt. But it was great to have a secret.
One of the things Banksy is known for is disguising his identity. How can you be sure that you were dealing with the real him?
The original boards that we got from him were in his style and were certainly by an extremely proficient artist. We were dealing with the person that represented him making the movie. I haven’t met him, I don’t even know what he looks like, except what the Internet suggests. And he’s taken credit for it now so I’m pretty sure it’s him. We went through the people that made the movie so I assume they would know how to get to the real him.
Even compared to how “The Simpsons” has mocked Fox in the past, this seemed to push things to a different level. Are you sure there’s no one higher up than you on the corporate ladder who’s displeased with this?
I think that we should always be able to say the holes in our DVDs are poked by unhappy unicorns.
Has Banksy’s criticism made you reconsider any of the ways you do things at “The Simpsons” in terms of producing the show or its merchandise?
I have to say, it’s very fanciful, far-fetched. None of the things he depicts are true. That statement should be self-evident, but I will emphatically state it.
A lot of the show’s animation is produced in South Korea, but not under those conditions.
No, absolutely not.
And even that closing shot of the 20th Century Fox logo surrounded in barbed wire?
Approved by them. Obviously, the animation to do this was pricey. I couldn’t have just snuck it by Fox. I’ll just say it’s a place where edgy comedy can really thrive, as long as it’s funny, which I think this was. None of it’s personal. This is what made “The Simpsons” what it is."

Gorillaz Rhinestone Eyes Storyboard Film
Jamie Hewitt's artwork is amazing. Awesome new video from the Gorillaz...
"Offered above is a visual montage that serves as a storyboard to the forthcoming Gorillaz video for “Rhinestone Eyes.” As we’ll soon find out, you can almost always expect a vivid and meaningful music video from the Gorillaz. Currently, the band is on their North American tour with N.E.R.D as announced earlier last month as a surprise add on. The band is also expected to play in parts of Europe after the final legs of their North American tour. You can view those dates here. - Hypetrak"

The North Face Back-To-Berkeley Boot
A traditional boot style with some of TNF's latest materials...
"Like it or not, winter is coming, and in many places that means cold days, bad weather, and heavy coats. It also means it's time to don some appropriate footwear, like The North Face Back-To-Berkeley Boot ($100-$110). A mix of classic styling and new-age materials, the Back-To-Berkeley features a ballistic mesh upper, a waterproof suede mudguard PrimaLoft Eco insulation, HydroSeal waterproofing, and a TNF Winter Grip outsole for excellent traction no matter what's covering the ground." - Uncrate

Tight space: big solutions
Hmm...could be useful in the studio perhaps?
"Living in snug quarters has its challenges, I can speak to that with authority – I reside in a 500 square-feet apartment. But to do it comfortably there are certain things we can't do without. The trick is to organize, organize and organize. There must be a place to conceal everything and you must own pieces of furniture and accessories that have dual functionality. For those compact dwellers my advice to you is to edit down your belongings and keep only what's most essential. But I know the hardest test of all is trying to fit all that you need (and want) without compromising style or comfort. These outstanding finds will help you conquer this battle. BTW, remember to use furniture proportional to your space, don't cram it in just because..." - TheDesignerPad
