Nike Air Foamposite Pro – Electric Green | Release Info
Adding another color to the list for the Foams. Might need to see these in person though for an accurate representation of the color...
"The original Foamposite Pro colorway dropped recently, and we have already shown you a preview of this electric green model, but now the solid information about this release is finally available. The vibrant electric green model of the Foamposite Pro is striking in it’s use of the basic colorblocking of black on the composite portion on the instep, the swoosh, the heel tab, and the laces and tongue. Nike Basketball fans have been fed a steady diet of Foamposite releases of late, and this one will see a release at 21 Mercer on Saturday, March 5th. So if you missed out on other off-colorways of this model, like the Dirty Coppers or the Pewters, here is your chance to grab a pair that you may regret not being able to scoop up if you don’t act quickly next Saturday.

Stuffed Hamburger Press
Mmm, another tool for custom burger creations in the kitchen...
"Sure, toppings are all well and good, but there's something special about a burger with its flavor accomplices stuffed inside the meat. The Stuffed Hamburger Press ($12) makes creating these culinary delights a breeze: simply fill each side with meat, press to make a well in the center for holding your goodies, and press one more time to ready the patty for cooking. Here's to that chorizo and poblano-stuffed turkey burger you've been thinking about." - Uncrate

The Master Chart of Fashion Influence
A graphical explanation for fashion and some of the leading designers in the industry...
"The fashion world may often inhabit its own bubble, but fashion doesn't exist in its own vacuum. Designers are influenced by other designers, past and present, whether they realize it or not—and whether they admit it or not.
There are varying degrees of osmosis, homage paying, and "borrowing" during fashion week as well as camps and schools of thought. Ideas run from designer to designer, especially from one generation to the next.
Some younger designers, like Prabal Gurung, have formal mentors. His is Carolina Herrera. Each attended the other's show this week and it's clear there is some link between Mr. Gurung's polished elegance and that of his mentor as well as lions like Oscar de la Renta. Derek Lam worked at Michael Kors and surely some of Mr. Kors' aesthetic seeped into Mr. Lam's own.

Beer & Pretzel Marshmallows
Sounds like a pretty tasty combo...
"Looking for the perfect snack to go with your favorite stout? Beer & Pretzel Marshmallows ($10) should do the trick. These tasty treats start with a thick and fluffy homemade beer marshmallow, which is dipped in milk chocolate and then topped with beer and pretzel brittle bits. If they had only managed to work some peanut butter and bacon in there, you might be looking at the ultimate man food." - Uncrate

Happy Birthday, Your Royal Airness...
Happy Birthday to one of the greatest to ever play the game...
"48 years ago today, one of the greatest athlete ever to play the game of basketball was born. The second son to Delores and the late James Jordan, the scrawny kid from Brooklyn named Michael Jeffrey Jordan shared a passion for sports with his father and older brother. Though lackluster as first, he found fame soon on the court of Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. There was no looking back from that point on in his life. So as fans gathered in Los Angeles today for the first official day of 2011 NBA All-Star Game, take a moment to honor one of the men who propelled the game to a whole new level and made us all believe that we can soar in the sky. Happy Birthday to His Airness, Michael Jordan!" - Freshness

ASICS GEL Lyte III Neon – White + Yellow + Pink
Pretty solid colorways all around. The Pink and Yellow are definitely a little more on the loud side...
"The ASICS GEL Lyte III is pretty much the embodiment of early 1990′s non-Nike sneaker design at it’s height, and the shoe has proven staying power; the collaborations have been many (Slam Jam with a white/blue/red color fade, Nice Kicks x Ronnie Fieg with a slew of collaborative editions, and of course mita sneakers has put a stamp on some wild colorways – including this wild Kirimoni Project edition). That’s just the short list of the most recent editions of the GEL Lyte III. Now, add to that an upcoming pack with White, Yellow, or Green leather uppers, with the fluorescent highlighter colors set off by a plain white/black midsole. These are quintessential 1990′s, and unlike some other recent reissues of the GEL Lyte III, these wouldn’t look out of place at a Foot Locker circa 1992. Check out images of this nice retro pack, which is available at Flauge, after the jump" - Freshness

Nigo Opens Up About Bape

"WWD sat down with Nigo from A Bathing Ape to finally shine some light on the situation of the brand and why he decided to sell the brand, as reported by us last week, to Hong Kong fashion conglomerate I.T.
““Basically, I can’t do business. I’m not suited for it. I wish I had had a partner on the business side from the beginning,” said a surprisingly upbeat Nigo, whose real name is Tomoaki Nagao. The music and fashion impresario said he always thought he would sell the company he incorporated in 1995.Make sure to read the article here." - High Snobiety
“I turned 40 [last December], there was the turning point of the brand reaching nearly 20 years since its establishment, and I think I made a forward-looking choice,” he said, acknowledging the brand’s popularity in Japan has faded in recent years. “About two or three years ago the brand and the company got too big for me to handle, plus there was the problem with the economy, and the number of things I wasn’t able to control on my own increased, so I started looking for a partner.” “

Reebok Pump Fury Super Lite
Yet another pair of kicks I'll be missing due to an overseas release. Sigh, the black/grey/lime green would've been sweet...
"Reebok Pump Fury Super Lite is the lightweight cousin of the cult sneaker Insta Pump Fury. We reported previously of the premiere models and now a series of two toned shoes are scheduled to drop next week. In fact the sneakers are all united by the use of black color and two highlight colors were selected to individualize the footwear. Over sized ventilation holes on the uppers work wonders while participating in sports and the revised low profile soles provide cushioning and support. Currently these are all available as pre-orders at mita sneakers and will officially release next Friday, February 11th." - Freshness

A Bathing Ape Takes a Final Bath...
A very comprehensive essay explaining the history of success and downfall of BAPE...
"In Summer 2000 I came back to Tokyo to research the popular Ura-Harajuku street fashion brand A Bathing Ape for my senior thesis. My makeshift mentor was an editor of Hot Dog Press — a men’s lifestyle magazine from Kodansha that ceased publication in 2003 — who had covered the Fujiwara Hiroshi family of brands over the years.
One day he drew a triangle on a piece of paper with the x-axis being number of consumers and the y-axis being brand cachet. He explained, “At the top point here are very cool but low-selling brands. At the bottom of the triangle are all the mass market brands with huge sales but no cachet. The secret to A Bathing Ape and the Ura-Harajuku brands is that they keep themselves right in the middle of the triangle and don’t let themselves slip down. They have a healthy number of consumers but they make sure to never go all the way to the bottom.”
This was the general understanding about A Bathing Ape’s success: They would always use specific marketing techniques to appear underground even when selling to millions of young Japanese across the country. I understood this “brand cachet über alles” strategy to be so integral to their success that I ended my thesis with the prediction, “Once the Ura-Harajuku cultural complex disintegrates, Ape may lose its subcultural base and will be subject to the normal forces of fad market structures. [Founder] Nigo will probably stop producing Ape before this point in order to save the brand’s reputation.”

Look for a drop come August 2011.

"In a surprising move, news came in today that Hong Kong’s I.T. Group has purchased 90% of A Bathing Ape mother company Nowhere Inc.
“Hong Kong-based I.T Ltd said Tuesday it has bought 90 percent of Nowhere Co., the corporate parent of Japanese street label A Bathing Ape, known as Bape, for 230 million Japanese yen, or $2.8 million at current exchange rates.Last we heard, Bape was making around 60 Million USD revenue a year, therefore the 2.8 million USD pricetag seems extremely low. For now we do not know why the turn-out of this deal is so low, but hopefully we can soon tell you more." - High Snobiety
I.T said it plans to fully consolidate Nowhere into the company. It also said that Tomoaki Nagao, best known by the name Nigo, will serve as a creative director of Nowhere for an “initial period of two years”. The statement said he will oversee product design, brand direction and image development.” Via WWD.
